We had an outstanding day in the greater Cincinnati area on April 8, 2024 watching the full solar eclipse that traversed the United States. Our backyard may not have been the absolute best location to view a perfectly covered sun for the solar eclipse, but it was very impressive. Taylor took an afternoon off of work and came up with Gigi in the afternoon (we are north of Cincinnati), and I suspect he enjoyed the viewing.
Gas prices were between $2 and $3/gal not that long ago, but are now (June 2022) are pushing the $5/gal at the pump in most of the U.S. and much higher on the west coast … and of course in high tax states. Diesel used to farm, ship, deliver and work in America is at least a buck more (thumbnail photo from 1998).
It would (WILL) be nice when the current “War on Fossil Fuel” is over and at least the U.
After strong storms ripped through the area, the Raspberry Pi load-balanced and Hugo setup I had running locally, were knocked out and required some updating to bring Brenich.com back online.
In order to keep with testing and updating, here are a couple yard photos that require evening and weekend clean-up.
